- Economy / Innovation (under the lead of Catalonia)
- Environnement (under the lead of Lombardy)
- Culture (joint-management)
About 2016-2017, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes has suggested to create and lead two new working groups on “Labour mobility and professional training” and “Research and higher education”
The main objective of theses working groups is to foster more collaborative projects and to develop effective joint-applications to the European calls for proposals.
The governance of the Four Motors is flexible and each member has the possibility to develop bilateral relations with one of his partners on specific subjects, in particular within the EU framework. For instance, Baden-Württemberg took part in the ECREIN+ project, lead by the Rhône-Alpes Region and financed by the INTERREG IVC for the period 2010-2012. The two Regions were then able to engage in the development of regional policies for Eco-Innovation. Another example of bilateral relations is the one between Catalonia and Lombardy in the fields of design and health. They also take part together in the Vanguard Initiative by leading and collaborating on the « ESM-Efficient and Sustainable Manufacturing » project.
The collaboration is also flexible through the regular extension of its activities to the other actors of the network “Four Motors and Associated Regions”
