Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes takes over the presidency of the alliance

Building on the work carried out by Catalonia, Baden-Württemberg and Lombardy, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region assumed the presidency of the Four Motors for Europe for a one-year term.

On 11 June in Barcelona, Catalonia officially handed over the presidency of the alliance to the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region.

“Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes is fully committed to building on the momentum initiated by the Catalonia Region, with the ambition to continue and expand the projects already underway in support of our industrial sovereignty and the competitiveness of our regions. We will also lead a presidency that is both ambitious and highly visible in Brussels, ensuring that the voice of our four Regions is heard at the heart of European decision-making, for the benefit of our territories and their citizens.”

A stronger and more visible Europe through its Regions

Through this new presidency, Fabrice Pannekoucke aims to continue strengthening and expanding cooperation among the Four Motors for Europe to address the major economic, industrial, technological and environmental challenges facing European regions.

The objective is to make regional cooperation a key driver of competitiveness, innovation and strategic autonomy, serving citizens, businesses and local communities alike.

A roadmap built around seven strategic priorities

Through this presidency, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes reaffirms its role as an industrial and European driving force. More than a programme, it represents a vision: that of a Europe of regions, capable of innovating, producing and shaping its own future in the service of sovereignty and prosperity.

The Region’s roadmap is structured around 7 key strategic priorities:

  1. Support industrial innovation and European competitiveness via an offensive economic strategy
  2. Stimulate industry and consolidate strategic partnerships in the defence and security sectors
  3. Accelerate industrial innovation and the development of green hydrogen in Europe
  4. Obtain gains in productivity, support regional produce and foster generational renewal in agriculture
  5. Promote a sustainable approach to mountain areas, tourism and major events
  6. Drive skills and training to achieve industrial transformation
  7. Boost European visibility and exercise influence in Brussels
