The event was opened by the State Secretary for Political Coordination and Europe, Florian Hassler. In a keynote entitled "Fostering moonshot innovation in the age of AI", Dr Wieland Brendel (Hector-endowed ELLIS Fellow, ELLIS Institute Tübingen, Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems, Tübingen AI Center) impressively demonstrated the radical changes that AI is bringing to all areas of life in ever shorter periods of time and the conditions that need to be in place for Europe to position itself well in this area.
Dr Brendel also took part in the subsequent panel discussion "Start-ups as drivers for AI solutions with societal benefit", which was moderated by Rebecca C. Reisch, Managing Director of Cyber Valley GmbH.
Start-up representatives on the panel were Max-Frederick Gerken, CEO and Co-Founder of Optocycle from Baden-Württemberg, and Sara Uboldi, Head of Solutions, Intellico s.r.l. from Lombardy.
Dr Patrick Rapp, State Secretary at the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Tourism, gave the closing address.
At the reception that followed in the museum's atrium, guests not only had the opportunity to talk to each other, but could also experience a little hands-on AI and find out about support options for companies looking to internationalise.
There were stands from:
- Subsequent: demonstrating their non-invasive, innovative AI application that collects and analyzes detailed human skeletal movement data in real time from simple image material such as smartphone images. These analyses can be used in amateur and professional sports, neurological rehabilitation, home fitness and safety).
- Optocycle: showing the demonstrator of a truck loaded with mixed construction waste scanned by a camera and using AI-based systems for the optical classification of construction waste and mixed construction waste. Aim: better separate the different components of construction waste and thus to recycle the waste more effectively).
