Four Motors for Europe at the Smart City Expo 2024

On November 6, 2024, the Four Motors for Europe hosted a networking event at the Catalunya Pavilion during the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) in Barcelona. The event aimed to strengthen collaboration among Baden-Württemberg, Catalonia, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Lombardy, while showcasing innovative solutions to urban challenges.

Key representatives opened the event with welcoming remarks, including State Secretary Dr. Patrick Rapp (Baden-Württemberg), Roger Suarez (ACCÍO – Catalonia Trade & Investment), Joelle Seux (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Entreprises) and Paolo Sabbadini (Economic Development Department of the Lombardy Region). Their speeches highlighted the significance of interregional partnerships in driving innovation and tackling shared challenges in urban development.

The regional business agencies used the event to showcase the Four Motors for Europe Business Passport. This tool is designed to assist companies in setting up operations within the partner regions, reinforcing economic cooperation and regional integration. A pitch session followed, where businesses from the four regions presented innovative technologies in areas such as digitalization, sustainable mobility, and energy efficiency.

Specifically, company pitches were held by Lobelia Earth (CAT), Vreed (BW), Tecnosens (LOM) and My Digital Buildings (AURA). These presentations encouraged dialogue and potential partnerships between participants, reaffirming the intention of the Lombardy presidency and the Four Motors for Europe network to further promote regional collaboration and the development of new strategic solutions.

The event concluded with informal networking, creating a space for open discussions and the exchange of ideas. Attendees had the opportunity to connect across regions, build relationships and explore shared challenges. Through strong partnerships and shared innovation, during the Lombardy presidency year, the Four Motors for Europe continue to lead the way in creating smarter and more sustainable urban environments.
